Curator’s Perspective

Founder and Curator Rajendra Patil said, “Far more than a display of artworks, the 3-day art show provides art lovers with moments of reflection, tranquillity, and storytelling, encapsulating both spiritual and symbolic dimensions of Indian art. By uniting diverse artists and genres year after year, the fair has established itself as a cultural platform that caters equally to the passion of art lovers and the investment interests of collectors.”

Scale and Scope of the Event

The Mumbai Art Fair has always aimed to create a professional environment for artists to exhibit their work and a place for buyers and makers to meet. It will span pigeonholed genres from figurative and realistic to abstract, experimental and symbolic works.

The event will see regular participating galleries such as thecurators.art, Bouquet of Art Gallery, Dev Mehta Art Gallery, Studio3 Art Gallery, RS Art Space and Greyscale from Mumbai, and Artecious World Art Gallery and Aura Planet from Delhi and Arpitam Kala Mandir from Kolkata. But along with these, the event is an open stage for newcomers in the art world.

Highlights of the Exhibition

  • Coupled with strong and simple compositions of uncomplicated complexity by Pooja Vijayarangan and Jenaifer Daruwalla.

Cultural Significance

The fair encompasses a diverse range of landscapes- abstract, semi-abstract, romantic, pastoral, floral, seasonal, and urban, across various approaches. Varsha Patil, Ravishankar T, and Kartikeya Khatau will offer landscape paintings, and Ria Das, Vatsala Thakur, Sunandini Jayant, Dr Jessica Serrao, and Gagandeep Singh Kochar will be presenting flowerscapes. Work in oils from Ashwin Kumar and Vasundhara Nanavati and semi-abstract approaches by Rupali Mansinghka will also be offered.

Pieces presented by Jeenu Madan and Premal Shah incorporate both traditional and contemporary elements. Payal Sethia will exchange graphical pseudo-realism. Arvind Sharma will present traditional Indian paintings, Rajiv Malayil will showcase symbolic works, and Rajeev Rai will adjust photographic narratives.

Continuing museums’ ongoing positioning of the arts in intersections for works by upcoming artists and a way for those who are diverse in art to explore, the 6th Mumbai Art Fair will link creative minds to those who appreciate, collect, and invest in art over three days and raise awareness for artistic voice from all areas of the country.
