
JCAC Mysuru will host a three-day Pattachitra art workshop from 25–27 September 2026, offering participants an opportunity to learn a traditional painting practice from Odisha known for its intricate detailing, bold colours, and narrative imagery.
The workshop will be led by Master Artist Ashish Kumar Das, who has more than 21 years of experience in the Pattachitra tradition. Participants will work closely with the artist to understand the techniques, motifs, and storytelling methods associated with this historic art form.
Workshop Overview
Pattachitra is one of India’s well-known traditional painting styles, originating in Odisha. Characterised by fine linework and decorative compositions, the art form has long been used to depict religious and mythological themes.
During the workshop, participants will create their own Pattachitra painting and can choose one of the following subjects:
- Lord Jagannath
- Radha Krishna
All art materials will be provided, including a 14″ × 20″ canvas.
