New Delhi’s contemporary art calendar welcomed a new group exhibition with the opening of “Rhythms of Black & White” at Nayan Naveli Gallery in Greater Kailash Enclave I on 10 July 2026. Curated by artist and curator Amrita Kochhar, the exhibition brings together thirteen artists whose works explore the expressive possibilities of monochrome through painting and mixed-media practices. The exhibition will remain open to visitors until 3 August 2026.
A Celebration of Monochrome Expression

Rather than relying on colour, the exhibition focuses on the relationship between light, shadow, texture and form. Through black-and-white compositions, the participating artists examine themes ranging from memory and emotion to movement and contemplation. The exhibition demonstrates how a restrained palette can communicate complex visual narratives while encouraging viewers to engage more closely with the details of each artwork.
Distinguished Guests Mark the Opening

The inaugural evening was attended by noted artists Maïté Delteil, Anjolie Ela Menon, and Jatin Das, whose presence added significance to the occasion. Artists, collectors, students and art enthusiasts gathered at the gallery to view the exhibition and interact with fellow members of Delhi’s art community.
The exhibition has been curated by Amrita Kochhar, who has previously organised exhibitions featuring established as well as emerging artists, reflecting her continued engagement with contemporary Indian art.
Interactive Experience Engages Visitors

Among the highlights of the opening evening was a two-minute live illustration activity designed to encourage spontaneous creativity.
Activity Highlights
- Visitors spent one minute in complete silence with their eyes closed.
- During the second minute, they created drawings inspired purely by imagination.
- No artistic rules or expectations were imposed.
- The activity encouraged personal reflection and creative freedom.
The participatory exercise received an enthusiastic response and became one of the most discussed elements of the inaugural event.
