Black Cube Gallery, founded by Sanya Malik, will present From Modern Masters to Emerging Voices, a selection of paintings and sculptures featuring works by established Indian artists and contemporary practitioners at Art Mumbai 2026. The presentation will take place from 12–15 November 2026 at Mahalaxmi Racecourse, Mumbai, at Booth C56.
The selection brings together works by Krishen Khanna and Thota Vaikuntam alongside contemporary artists Yashika Sugandh and sculptor Gaurab Das. Other participating artists include Mahendra Kadia, Ompal Sansanwal, Sudhanshu Sutar, Meena Sansanwal, Phaneendra Nath Chaturvedi and Paul Kuntze.
Artists and Artistic Practices
The presentation spans painting and sculpture, examining material, form, colour and narrative through different artistic approaches.
Krishen Khanna’s figurative works and Thota Vaikuntam’s contemporary figurative paintings form part of the selection. Mahendra Kadia explores emotional and psychological conflicts, while Ompal Sansanwal works with labyrinth-like arrangements of colour. Sudhanshu Sutar’s practice draws on rural imagery and psychological themes.
Meena Sansanwal’s works feature bright colours and patterns, while Phaneendra Nath Chaturvedi creates anthropomorphic beings. The selection also includes sculptures by Gaurab Das in bronze, wood and stone.
Yashika Sugandh’s meditative, nature-inspired works bring another perspective to the presentation. Paul Kuntze’s practice includes contemporary reinterpretations of Baroque frescoes.

Themes Across Generations
Bringing together artists from different generations and backgrounds, the presentation considers themes of culture, nature, human existence and imagination. The combination of painting and sculpture offers visitors an opportunity to engage with varied approaches to visual expression and material experimentation.
