India Art Meet will make its Mumbai debut from 23 to 25 October 2026 at P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy in Prabhadevi. The exhibition will bring together more than 90 artists from across India, presenting contemporary paintings, mixed-media works and selected sculptures.
Ahead of the exhibition, India Art Meet hosted The Living Line, a curtain-raiser exploring Indian and Japanese calligraphy, on 17 October 2026 at the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Mumbai. Organised in association with the Indo-Japanese Association, the event examined the artistic practices and cultural connections shared by the two traditions.
The Living Line: Indian and Japanese Calligraphy
The afternoon featured discussions and demonstrations on calligraphic techniques, philosophy and evolution. The sessions explored how brushstrokes can communicate emotion, movement and individual expression.
Dr. Santosh Kshirsagar and Sadashiv Kulkarni spoke about Indian and Japanese calligraphy. Sato Hitomi, Consul-General of Japan, shared insights into Japanese shodō and its relationship with Zen.
The event was attended by Noopur Desai, President of the Indo-Japanese Association, and Arka Pradhan, founder of India Art Meet. Maneesh Baheti, curator of India Art Meet, hosted the gathering.
Conceived as a prelude to the main exhibition, The Living Line brought members of the art community together for an exchange centred on calligraphy and its cultural traditions.
India Art Meet Mumbai Exhibition 2026
An extension of the Awadh Art Festival, India Art Meet aims to create greater visibility for established and underrepresented artistic voices. Its upcoming Mumbai exhibition will feature works across painting, mixed media and sculpture.
The exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to encounter contemporary art by artists from different parts of India. The programme also marks India Art Meet’s entry into Mumbai’s art calendar.
