A Cultural Celebration of the Rain
Delhi will welcome the return of Baarish Season 2 | Chapter 2 on Saturday, 8 August 2026, as Excurators presents the second chapter of its immersive monsoon-themed cultural experience at The Tivoli, Chattarpur. Powered by Aadyam Handwoven, the event brings together music, storytelling, puppetry, textiles, conversations and curated experiences that explore the cultural significance of the Indian monsoon. According to the organisers, Baarish remains India’s only immersive cultural event dedicated entirely to celebrating the many moods and memories associated with the rainy season.
Shubha Mudgal to Headline the Evening
The highlight of the evening will be a live performance by renowned vocalist Shubha Mudgal and her ensemble, presenting songs from the celebrated album Ab Ke Saawan. First released in 1999, the album blended Indian classical traditions with folk and contemporary influences and has continued to resonate with audiences over the years. During the concert, Mudgal will revisit compositions that explore themes of love, longing, hope and renewal, using the monsoon as a metaphor for memory and transformation. Widely recognised as one of India’s leading classical vocalists, Mudgal has also been honoured with the Padma Shri for her contribution to Indian music.
Celebrating Diverse Cultural Traditions
Beyond music, the programme reflects the diversity of India’s regional traditions connected with the rains. The Ao Naga Choir will present traditional rain songs rooted in the oral heritage of Nagaland, offering audiences a glimpse into the musical traditions of Northeast India. Puppetshala Performing Arts will stage Garaj & Baras, a traditional puppetry performance led by master puppeteer MD Shameem, celebrating the joy of the monsoon through storytelling and movement.
The event will also feature a conversation titled Monsoon & Textiles, curated by Aadyam Handwoven, examining how weaving traditions across India have interpreted the colours, textures and rhythms of the rainy season through regional craftsmanship.
