Gallery Pradarshak will present the 28th edition of Vidyarthi Vishesh 2026, its long-running annual student art exhibition, from 31 July to 14 August 2026 at its gallery in Khar West, Mumbai. Instituted in 1995, the exhibition has become one of the gallery’s signature initiatives dedicated to introducing young artists to the public, collectors and the wider art community. Entry to the exhibition is free, and it will remain open daily from 11 am to 7 pm, except Sundays.
A Platform for Emerging Artists
This year’s edition brings together the work of more than 25 student artists representing over seven art colleges across five Indian cities. The exhibition reflects the range of contemporary art education in the country, bringing together artists at the beginning of their professional journeys.
Rather than following a single curatorial theme, the exhibition focuses on the individuality of each participant. Visitors can expect works that explore personal experiences, cultural observations and experimental visual approaches through diverse artistic practices.
Diverse Artistic Practices on Display
The exhibition features artworks across several disciplines, demonstrating the breadth of media currently explored in Indian art institutions.

The selected works move between abstraction and representation while drawing from both traditional techniques and contemporary forms of expression. Hybrid Exhibition Expands Reach
Around 15 selected works will be displayed at the gallery in Mumbai, while the complete exhibition will also be available through Gallery Pradarshak’s official website.
The hybrid format allows each participating artist to present multiple works online, extending visibility beyond the physical gallery space. The digital exhibition also enables collectors, curators and audiences across India and overseas to access the exhibition throughout its duration.
Gallery Pradarshak has increasingly adopted digital initiatives alongside its physical exhibitions to broaden access to contemporary Indian art and support artists beyond geographical limitations.
Nearly Three Decades of Supporting Young Talent
Founded in 1994, Gallery Pradarshak has established itself as one of Mumbai’s longstanding independent galleries dedicated to emerging artists. Although recognised for its compact exhibition space, the gallery has organised hundreds of exhibitions and continues to focus on introducing new artistic talent through curated programmes and annual initiatives.
Over the past 28 editions of Vidyarthi Vishesh, many former participants have gone on to build professional art practices, exhibit nationally and internationally, teach in leading institutions and hold academic leadership positions. The exhibition therefore serves not only as an annual showcase but also as a record of changing generations within Indian contemporary art.

In addition to the exhibition, Gallery Pradarshak will host its Open Canvas – Conversations over High Tea sessions.
