However, after joining the Indian Army, he practiced constantly. He got the title ‘Chand’ because he would practice hockey at night under the moonlight.

He became the bedrock of Indian hockey from 1928-36. This period became the golden period of sports in India. During this golden period, India won three consecutive Olympic golds. Fans would get mesmerized watching Dhyan Chand play hockey. While some also accused him of using a magnet in his stick.
